As the field of transplantation continues to evolve and face new challenges, ABTC is strategically positioning certification in transplant coordination and care. With four committees of volunteers from our membership and governing board, we encourage our members to join us in shaping the future of the ABTC certification program. Our committees play an essential role in helping us develop, administer and continuously update our certification exams and continuing certification programs.​

The term of committee membership for each committee is three years. You must maintain your CCTC®, CCTN®, CPTC® ,CTP®  or CTFC credential during your term as a committee member. ABTC committees include:

  • Review the draft exam annually
  • Review items in the test pool for inclusion in the exam and approve each item to be used for the transplant nurse exam. The item review is completed at the annual examination committee meetings. ABTC reimburses airfare, hotel lodging and meals necessary for conducting the meeting.
  • Involvement in key verification and preliminary scoring decisions for the exam

  • Responsible for creating the first ever transplant nurse certification examination

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a mechanism for the continuing certification process
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a mechanism for awarding Continuing Education Points for Transplant Coordinators (CEPTCs) through approved educational offerings
  • Maintain a roster of certified coordinators
  • Review single, multiple and approved provider educational offerings on a rotation basis
  • Maintain quality control procedures for reviewing recertification applications
